Go on a nature walk, and use items collected ahead of time. Make earth vases and see the beauty of dirt!

Social Science: 
What does the earth give us? There is a miner's saying "What can not be grown must be mined" this even includes mud for huts. With this in mind, what do we mine from the earth? IE: sand for glass, petroleum for plastic, metals, cement, gypsum for sheet-rock, meat for eating etc. What do we grow in the earth? IE: cotton for clothing, silk for clothing, hemp for rope, fruit, vegetables, herbs and mushrooms for vaccines and medication etc. Make a list of your favorite items (toys, foods, cars, electronics etc.) then make a small list of what is mined or grown to make them. 

Art:
Make a nature collage using picture of things each child wants to see in nature.

Second Language (sigh language):

Exploration: 
Take a voice recorder or camcorder outside, sit quietly and record the "earth's music" or the sounds of nature. Then listen to it... what do you hear?

We use a lot from the earth with our mining and growing. What should we do to give back? Make a list of ways you can give back to the earth. What do the kids think without couching?

Make leaf paintings. Take leaves and finger paint on one side of them... then press them against paper to make paintings of leaves.

6. Let each child present their foot print.
